Hey guys. Just picked my car up from a local muffler place, and upon giving it a test to see how it sounds, I have found that in the lower revs it sounds good, but once it hits 3k it tapers off to just engine noise.

Do I need to get the whole exhaust done to get the whole range of revs to sound good? What should I go to from here.

I cheaped out and only got the rear muffler done (asked the guy to do whatever was bolt on, as I'm palming the car off to my mother in around 6 months and at that time most modifications will be undone and sold off for monies.

Give the muffler some time to carbon up and Im sure you will be happy with it.

there are no loud bolt on mufflers for a 3rd gen.. they are all far to large, if that answers your question?

Will this likely increase the loudness in the higher revs? What will the eventual carboning result as?

Well the muffler I got sounds more than OK at low revs, it's the higher revs, or is that what you're indicating at when referring to loudness? Haha.

Ill let you know what ive done, when I bought my 3L TE, everything was stock even in the exhaust, I always like to have a bit of a louder exhaust, after finding out that the factory size is not much smaller than the aftermarket exhaust's available I decided I would just replace the rear muffler with something straight through. Went to Carline mufflers, for $180 they supplied and fitted a Lukey muffler, I was somewhat disappointed with the note as it sounded nice and gruff (not too tinny) however it was not loud enough, after sometime I found that the exhaust got louder and louder as it was given some time to "bed" in. Now im very happy with it, the sound isnt tinny, does not drone and certainly louder than when I first had it fitted.

give it a few weeks, if still not happy have a look and youll probably see the muffler is huge, that will be making it quieter.
