hey guys my 2003 wagon seems to be playing up, its cranking, but it isnt starting, any thoughts on what it could be?

have a compression test done

how old is the fuel filter
pop off the cover and check the timing belt isnt broken

Before you go to those extremes try some simple tests

Check for spark and injector pulse, if you have no injector pulse may be an immob issue, could be a dead fuel pump thus no fuel etc etc.

Dont waste your time with things like comp test which is fairly involved before you check for the simple things.

...also check your ECU fuse as they do sometimes blow for no apparent reason

thanks for the thoughts guys, i was leaning toward immob issue because it didnt sound at mechanical fault, timing belts fine and it hasnt been feeling like its missing a cylinder or lacking power/flat spots, it was doing this a few nights ago and then i came back after a few hours and it started. so im leaning towards spark , fuse or immob issues, thanks again guys
