Hello,
I have a glitch: quartz clock on dashboard suddenly resets or even turns off. Looks like a bad soldering or so on. What is the easiest way to take dashboard off and get to the clock?
Thanks.

at the bottom of the dash there,s two bits of plastic that look like vents . with a small screwdriver pop them out and there,s two screws

Once you take out the two screws magnaman89 talks about remove the black trim around the cluster then there is four screws that hold the cluster in place remove them then pull the cluster towards you and then you will have to reach behind and unclip all the harness connectors at the rear and then wriggle the complete cluster out. Usually to the left between the steering wheel and dash.
I usually remove the left harness connections and then you can tilt the cluster out more to get the centre ones etc or vice versa.
You may have to remove the clock from the unit unless you can see a problem on the printed circuit on the back.
Bit more involved to remove the clock but easily done if you take your time and with care not to break the perspex front as you remove that.(it unclips around the edges and slides out you will see it once you look closely how it all fits together) Only two screws at rear of clock to undo to pull it out from memory. Have done a few over the years as well as swapped out fuel, temp and speedo gauges that have been faulty a well as PRND21 units on auto TP's etc.
While you are there check all your bulbs are working on the cluster. Goodluck Vee.

Yeah, thanks a lot for very detailed description. I did it yesterday, inspected the PCB twice, but found no weak solderings. Fixed crossed and scratched wires of fuel gauge, assembled and put it back... no miracle: clock still resets. However, fuel gauge working at least :)

Might pay to wriggle the top left 10amp fuse in the dash fuse box and see if that has any affect as that is the one for clock power supply etc. Clock resets when it loses power supply. You can pickup a cluster pretty cheap nowadays if you want to get another clock. Vee

Thanks. The problem seems to be in the clock, as sometimes a very slight finger tap on left upper corner of dashboard can reset it.
