hi all just courious on a few things.

just wanting to know if a auto from a later model magna 3.5 v6 auto will fit behind my 3.0 v6?
as its confirmed i killed the diff in the accident. so i'm treating the te auto as a junk box
and would it be rather straight forward taking into consideration what else was broken in the accident?

what sort of costs could i be expecting?
as i'm looking into repairing it for my mum so she can drive it. but i'll only be making a start on it after the falcon is registered.

i'm only wanting to stay with the 4spd. though. can't go manual with it.

thanks
matt

For info on the autos speak to Mal or Brendan at Mitsfix. They can be contacted on:

Rhiatech Automotive Pty Ltd T/as Mits-Fix
2/21 Gatwick Road
Bayswater North Vic 3153
03 9761 6270
sales@mitsfix.com
www.mitsfix.com

They can confirm if the pre TL Auto's are OK ie: Engine ECU for Sports Auto Box compatability, Sports Auto Box in non Sports Auto Model etc . From TL onwards the auto had a different speedo signal output setup which is not compatible with earlier models. Vehicle would need to be rewired with the TL/TW wiring looms and associated plug in components if fitting a TL/TW Auto.

You can use any TE to TJ 4sp auto, TL box will not work either way as the output shaft has a different set up as well for the sensor and the TCU will go straight into limp mode.

oh cool.. i thought they would be rather simular. but i'll keep in mind tj wont work

what would one be worth from you mal? as i'm thinking it may be a better bet to get a tested box than take a chance on a box from pick a part
as i'm not going to bother patching mine as it had some bad diff slack prior to me gutterslapping the car

i was going to ring mal later this week about it but thought someone may of been online at the time i posted that may of been able to answer the question.
as i was just looking costs wise to do the repairs for the time being anyways.

as i thought if i fit a 3.5v6 box in my te, the 3.0 wont have the balls to kill it again. as mine used to tow a caravan and i have found a external trans cooler wasn't fitted.
along with the bad diff slop i had mine was overdue for replacement
