Hi guys,
The battery light in my 2000 wagon comes on when i slow down but seems to disappear when i drive off.
The NRMA had a look, charge is good and battery is brand new.
They told me to just "keep an eye on it".
But i'd prefer to sort the problem out before i get stuck some where as my wagon is my daily.
Any idea on what it is? Definitely alternator?

Either your engine revs dip down too far, or the alternator is below par.
Light comes on if the revs dip below about 400. Then it stalls. lol
Alternator brushes could be worn down, causing low output at low rpm. Eventually the light will be on all the time, so yes, keep an eye on it as the Man said.

Ah that explains it. Thanks Max.
I'll take it in on Monday to get it fixed.
Would i need a new alternator? Or can it just be rebuilt?

if its just the regulator which it sounds like it is then it is a easy fix once you have the part you wont even need to remove the alternator for the job to be done
