View Full Version : Quick question... related to climate control maybe?

Did my heater core not long ago.. All is great now... Car is a KF XI verada.

One thing I just thinking about though.. I remember coming across this long (couple of inch) metal rectangular 'thing' which plugged in to somewhere behind the radio. The wire was rather short. When I put everything back together, I couldn't remember where it should go, so it's just dangling around the back there... Only just remembered now!

Just thinking about it, is it a temperature sensor for the climate control unit? Should it be going to that sniffer pipe (the one that feeds from the temp control knob area)? Or doesn't this make sense? lol

I think it was around this area: https://www.dropbox.com/s/54m7rjg9cdsj1zw/metal%20area.jpg

Also... What is thing plug for? https://www.dropbox.com/s/ys0g2c0pl7nxis2/what.jpg

The first one looks like one of the plugs that actually plug into the back of the climate control panel itself

This is for the Verada power outlet in the centre console to plug in the ones that have the ash tray at the back just in front of the centre console lid

For the first pic, I was pointing more to the area of where it kinda was.. not interested in the connector per se. Interested where the sensor like metal thing was meant to sit. Was meant to be pointing to the area on the heater box.

I have the ash tray and second lighter socket.. both are plugged in and working fine. Nothing is plugged in to that socket shown in the picture.

The small metal thing just sits down near the floor vents. I don't know what it does but it needs to be there

First one looks like it fits into the Hazards.
The second is for the hands free that was an option.

The metal rectangular piece with a short cable is most likely the water temp sensor for the evap box. There's a small opening on the bottom of the heater evap box where it goes straight up and it is held in place via a magnetic force.

It can be very tricky to find but you'll need to tuck your fingers in between the ecu and the evap box and find the opening.

The unexplained harness in the first pic looks exactly what the sensor clicks into to give it power.

And the other harness directly under the cupholders is for a phone handsfree setup.

Ahh.. Thanks. Never thought about the handfree setup on these cars!

And yeah.. I was trying to show something related to the metal sensor.. That's the only pic I had which showed something remotely of it. So, should be able to just remove radio and find where it sits in? When I first took everything apart, the sensor wasn't specifically sitting anywhere. Looked like someone else had already played around behind there.

Not by magnetic force :). Core is alloy, noyhing magnetic will stick to that

It does go in from under the heater box and is jammed against the end of the core. It tells the cc ecu the heater core temp
