Hey guys so i have the RWC man coming tomorrow because i am selling my 96 magna (second half of year) so its the 3rd gen shape, anyway.. I bought the car and it had an aftermarket steering wheel on it (the wooden texture one from super cheap) anyway, the horn isnt working, i open the fuse box under the hood and there is no relay where the horn relay "Should be" and also when i take the steering wheel off there is ONE black wire poking out, is this normal and can anybody think of why my horn isnt working?
That one black wire is a ground for the horn, try earthing it somewhere and see if it works

I will give that a go thankyou! what about the missing relay?? could that have anything to do with it? also is there a fuse im missing? i think there is a "10 fuse" in the driver footwell for the horn, but that appears to be fine.

Could it have somehting to do with the boss kit?
the relay I would just go to the wreckers and grab one, usually they will let you have a hand full for a couple of dollars. but try earthing that wire first, then get the relay

i wonder if they took the relay off as the earth wire on the horn could have been shorting somewhere and was sounding the horn? i know a couple of people who have had problems with a sports steering wheel and the horn randomly going off when they turn it on a certain angle, but the sports wheels were on commodores

Thankyou i will do that first thing tomorrow! Where can i earth that wire too? it is inside the boss kit (like a well) can it just be taped to the solid metal in there? and also could it be that the horn button isnt connecting with the positive connection properly because of the aftermarket wheel? sorry if this is jibberish haha i dont really know what to call it

dont quote me on it but i think you can earth it to the metal where the steering wheel bolts onto, also that could be a cause, but i guess you wont know till you earth it, if you earth it and no horn is sounding then you will need to put a relay in it, then see what it does,

Yeah have tried this, there are no + wires coming through to the steering wheel.. Nothing is connected except one black wire which runs straight to an earth point..

It sounds like you've answered your own question. If there's no wires running to your horn button, then that's most likely the reason it isn't working! I'm not familiar with your steering wheel, but I do recall years ago having a SAAS sports wheel on an earlier car (not a Magna) and the steering wheel boss being fitted with a black earth wire (with a bolt loop fitting at the end). It did come with a horn button in the centre but the kit did not supply any wires to it, it was up to you to work out how to wire it up to the brush/contact disk setup behind your wheel. I'm assuming your horn has never worked, if it used to work but doesn't now then either there are wires that you can't see, or the wires have vanished. Best advice would be to try to see what's behind your wheel, ie remove the column shroud or take your wheel off (again, not sure what your wheel looks like and I'm not familiar with the standard Magna setup). According to the circuit diagram the horn wire should be red & white (circled red on circuit diagram below) and it appears to use fuse 12 in your engine bay fuse box (same fuse as your BEM, icon looks like the one circled green).
EDIT: This is the circuit for a TH, it sounds like yours is a TE/TF so apologies if your setup is different (particularly re the BEM).

Thanks heaps for all the effort you put into that post for me! I think the guy who fitted the sports wheel has just ****ed with the wires and ripped them out. not really positive but they are just not there. i have resorted to using a switch horn for RWC :)
