hey guys,

i have noticed when my car vibrates and certain frequences in the rev range and when the music is at a moderate level (not loud) the rear view mirror shakes. when i hold the mirror it stops shaking. its as if something isnt connected fully. is there something i need to tighten or do i need to get a new rear view mirror? (dont know anything about them)

Yep, an easy fix if you can get the mirror off the screen in one piece. (That's the hard bit - any violence will destroy the screen.)

The clip that holds the mirror to the mount glued to the screen also connects to the mirror body at 2 points. When these develop play the mirror will flop about. A couple of drops of superglue on these 2 points, let set, then put the mirror back. No vibes!

If the mirror reflective material is peeling, it's a good time to go buy a new one. Available from Mitsu dealer, don't know the priice though.

Your avatar shows a TL or TW, if that is your car, I guess the mirror isn't peeling yet. lol

Have a look at the picture in the manual to see how the clip works, and how to remove the mirror.

Alternatively, go to a wrecker and rip a mirror out of a TJ or later. Not much force needed to pull it and a lump of glass off the windscreen. Then you can look at the design of that clip and undo yours at your leisure.

Theres a good chance you wont need to replace the mirror, and fix takes 30 seconds...

The mirror is held out on that little bar that I presume pivots on a ball and clamp arrangement at either end, its possible, yours has sat in one place for a long time a got a worn out on those area's.

So you just may need to twist the little bar around into a new position, its easier to do it while grabbing the bar firmly, and grabbing the mirror and twisting them both around 60-90 degrees.
Then straighten the mirror.
This worked on a TJ VRX SII just recently.

yeah its a tw, so no peeling. but ill have a CAREFUL (dont want the windscreen breaking ahah ) play around. it seems as if the ball and sock joint holding the mirror is loose.
