I know there are a lot of q & a's about radio security codes here and on google but none of them work for me.

Also, some of the sites say to turn the ignition to the accessories position and other say you can do it without any of the switches on. Others say to turn the radio on first. All very confusing.

I have a 1997 TF Magna Advance. The radio has a tape player included. The tape only has an eject & fast forward + fast reverse buttons. The radio has six rocker switches. There isn't anything else to press.

I have the security code.

I think this is the process that looks to work somewhat - but fails. When I turn the radio on it shows the number 1. Then I press the first digit code number. I can then press 2 and 2 shows up in the display. Press second security digit. I do the same for three but can't seem to get to the fourth security number.

Possibly, I am completly wrong. However, other threads say to hit "Tape" or "Display" but I have none of those buttons.

I end up getting three horizontal bars and the radio locks. I can clear it buy taking the battery lead off and waiting a while.

Does anyone know how to enter the security code on my model radio?

In general:
Once it is locked, power needs to be on for 1 hour (?) for the lock to clear. Disconnecting the battery doesn't work.

Radios in the Magnas are all different unfortunately, so unless you can find a owner's manual for the TF, or someone has the same radio, you are working in the dark.

I might have solved it. I ignored the numbers that first came up and just entered the four security numbers and the radio worked.

I'll now have a go at the time but does anyone remember how to set the time without me pressing more buttons?

Geez, man I just had an issue like this.

Couple of things to try; hold down the HU's on/off button for a "few" seconds to see if that resets it. Failing that leave it with the power on for an hour as suggested. Failing that, leave it overnight. Failing THAT you might need to replace the HU sorry.

You have the incorrect code. According to the drivers handbook Number 2 is an error message. It means you have entered the wrong code.

Does it have 6 rockers in a row or '3 up, 3 down'.

To set the time just hold the Time rocker down while pressing < for hours, and > for minutes.

I just adjusted the time. Hold down the time rocker switch and use the tuning button for hours & minutes.
