I noticed my exhaust was making odd noises so I took her in on Saturday to an exhaust shop here in Ipswich (not a huge number of options here) and found I have a cracked pipe into the rear resonator as well as the pipe cracked/rusted out over the back axle and the original muffler needing replacing (is this what's called the catback?). I told them at the time I didn't really want a Redback as I don't really like the crackle and would prefer a Magnaflow or Lukey but they came back to me today with a price of $380 for a new resonator and a Redback muffler fitted with the reason being mines a single hole muffler to chrome tip (and the cutout in my rear bumper is a single LARGE one) and that was "all he could find".

He's NOW doing some real searching (hopefully) to try and find a magnaflow or lukey to suit.

I would like a little more loud at higher revs than I have now and NO drone, mines an auto, so some suggestions on where else to go in the Ipswich or Brisbane regions would be nice please as well as some recommendations on compatible exhaust systems.

Thanks!

I had my Magna's exhaust done at Mr Muffler at Sumner Park. Would highly recommend.

My exhaust rusted out too. He put on a basic catback system.

I went for a Magnaflow rear muffler. It was the largest he could get to fit. Sounded amazing - definitely one of the deepest sounding Magna's I've ever heard. Unfortunately it droned noticeably at highway speeds.

Any reason you can not simply replace the centre muffler with a hot dog and replace the pipe over the rear axle as the VRX muffler is a great unit and would be a waste to throw it out

Theres the tried and tested Lukey LR2779 (typical VRX replacement), and also the one the guys are running on a 380 now from berklee (http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z467/Shootmarty/0655.jpg). its considerably cheaper than the stainless Lukey, will probably be louder, and its lighter and shorter, and described as an aftermarket for Magna's and others.

Get him to weld on any muffler and position it himself. Bolt on replacments are boring

Sorry Hayden but I am struggling to ascertain how, if in any way, this post was of any use at all?

im advising that it will just sound like all the other magnas, i mean thats fine if thats what you want but i went with something unique and it paid off, It has a unique sound that everyone seems to love, So i reccomend similar to what i did. Find a muffler the exhaust shop has in stock, choose a size according to how loud you want it and go for it :)

That's kind of what I'm doing HaydenVRX since my original post as I got a recommendation from Tony Cracka Horn for a local place, Rods Customs. Trouble is that he's so booked out the earliest I can get in is May 14th, GAH! How is a person supposed to impulse buy properly that far ahead, heh? Resonators replaced with a hotdog and all new shiny custpm pipe to a new straight thru muffler.

Hopefully she'll sound a little more aggressive then.

Thanks guys!

Again I would recommend Mr Muffler at Sumner Park. Not too far from you and have only heard good things. I got in on a couple of days's notice. I might even be back in the coming days for my 380 :)

Ok Red Valdez I'll give them a call tomorrow, the cracks are too big already and letting some nasty fumes in so I'm not sure I can wait till the 14th.

Thanks!

Red Valdez you might want to make a booking now at Mr Muffler as I couldn't even bribe my way in until the same day (14th of May) as the other place. I am going with your guy though as I liked his attitude better as he's going to test a few mufflers before final fitment Same price of $480 for new resonator replacement and new muffler, probably Berklee, and new 2.5inch pipe all round.

Thanks!
