i'm after getting some nice springs for my car...
what are some good brands
only thing is i dont want progressive rate springs just some nice stiff ones
i want the same stiffness all the way through...
i'm not that fussed about ride comfort... as alot of the progressive springs are a lil sloppy on the first few coils...
also my rims are a lil wide and i need the extra stiffness so that the guard doesnt rub on the tyre during hard cornering,... hence why not wanting progressive rate

I am going with Lovell Springs and KYB suspension through RPW.
From what I have seen, there is cheaper around but some of the idiots I have delt with whilst getting quotes etc
ie
"No1 makes springs for your magna excpet for (Company I have never heard of before)" <-- These guys also quoted me $700 just for springs, 40mm drop all around. My mate reckons they were cheapo brand aswell.
"You can't drop 60mm at the front with king springs"
etc
I decided that RPW knew what they were talking about and if i was gonig to do it i would do it properly. Its gonig to be abit of a pain getting my car out there etc but i think it will be worth it.

I have to be nice to Dobinsons as they are made where I live. I have read good stuff about them elsewhere on this forum and they have respect in the 4WD community. If I lower mine it will be with them. Mainly because I live beside the factory so backup should be good. The bloke that did my wheels didn't rate them but he sells King's....never trust a sales man.
They quote $140 a pair and $270 a pair fitted! How much does a set of spring clamps cost?
It's a long time since I changed the suspension myself on my old Mk2 Golf but I don't remember spending $260 on the spring clamps!

I think my Kings were a hundred a pair. You could also look into Eibach. Not cheap but better quality than probably everything mentioned so far.

how much would it cost to do it at a suspension place? spring and labor all up?
is it necessary to change the struts?

you could get eibach........ and then you could sell your kidney to pay for it. but you would regret it!! getting the eibach's that is....

Yesterday Jim Hunter Suspension in Blacktown, Sydney, quoted me $720 for Monroe GT Gas shocks and lowered springs of their own design - front & rear. To fit 2000 TH sports.

Rear shocks $123 each
And Whiteline stiff sway bars

If they do, they're probably just OEM replacements but better. I wouldn't be surprised if the Koni gear that they supply to Mitsubishi isn't available direct from Koni either.

i got the whiteline 'low', the fronts are not variable rate (if they are they certainly don't look like any other variable rate i've had!) and the backs are variable rate..... so far....going for about 60k kms they have been great (as good as the old King springs i had in the VL 'dore)
$800 to $1000 is good for a set of springs and shocks lowered...

I know my Ralliart has Koni Shocks in it but brand of springs does it have ??
I want to lower my Ralliart but enjoy the ride quality and handling now.

the ralliart has the same spring rate as VRX, a lovell sport low would not be much stiffer, since they claim only 15% stiffer over stock exec spring. With Koni shock it would still be fairly comfy. The koni has variable bump and rebound rates, also the most fluid movement, and meant to be good for 300'000 km

Sounds like your shocks were stuffed, or someone forgot to install the bump stops or something....
There's heaps of people with King Springs in their Magna's (including myself) who are not having issues bottoming out.
Cheers,
Martin.
can somebody please post a picture of a "bump stop"? I have to install the King springs soon. Do I have to buy bump stops?

I retained the factory bump stops when I installed King Springs in my TJ.
Cheers,
Martin.

like this?
