View Full Version : HELP! Excessive vibration on Acceleration

I've recently discovered that my '89 TP Sedan has a bit of an issue. When accelerating, particularly at moderate speed (ie accelerating in third gear (35~45+km/h), the car shakes and vibrates excessively.

I initially thought it could be bad engine mounts, and upon inspection, the front engine mount is buggered, although it seems that the rear mount and transaxle mount are fine.

Is it possible for a buggered front engine mount to cause such vibrations upon acceleration.

A friend of mine has also suggested that CV Joints may be a possible suspect but I'm unsure of how to check it, besides an obvious visual inspection.

Any feedback on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

one broken front mount will cause the vibration

cv joints or sloppy front shocks

tyres inflation all possible causes

I had a terrible shudder on acceleration. It was largely eliminated by replacing the front CV joints. I too have been told that worn/broken engine mounts will do it.
