Hi All,

Been having an intermittent horn issue. Occassionally, when I press the horn pad, only the high note one sounds. Other times, both sound. I am planning on getting something like this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-12-volt-Dual-Tone-Car-Horns-Horn-Mitsubishi-Challenger-/160886474833?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item257594c851).

Question is, where are the horn(s) located. I can only see one behind the washer bottle. I had a look at the MMAL manual and it states there are two, one where the washer bottle is and one behind/below the passenger headlight. I have always thought the one next to the washer bottle was for the alarm and that there are two separate horns for general use (as was the case for my old KS v6xi). I guess I can pop the bonnet and get someone else to press the horn pad but don't want to annoy neighbours.

Just found these (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitsubishi-Lancer-Evo-X-CZ4A-Factory-Front-Horns-Pair-J025-Evolution-/380476027094?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58962370d6). Would they work?
Cheers,
Vlad

You can test the horn on your car, by leaving a door/boot ajar and try to lock it, should give you two short blasts.

would that be the alarm horn only? It is also too short to tell which one is on.

unplug the one by the washer bottle and make sure there is a second or to check that it works. Seems funny because i knew TF only had one near the passengers side head light and also know that the TJ only has the one by the washer bottle

Hmm. Just did a test with the doors ajar and also by pressing the horn pad. Only seems to trigger the one next to the washer. Anyone know where exactly is the horn on the passenger side? Do I need to remove the bumper or headlight etc?

Cheers,
Vlad

you need to remove the front left indicator if you have two piece lights , then get a torch and just under the passengers side headlight you will see the other horn. But dont waste your time simply unplug the horn beside the washer bottle and and push the horn pad on and see if the other is really there

Tania, I have a KW and it is all one piece. According the MMAL manual at least from H, J, L and W series Magnas only have the washer bottle horn and the passenger side one is the additional for the Veradas.

So A49 is the washer bottle side horn (standard) and A32 is the passenger headlight side horn (Verada only). Chances are, when it was being repaired, they may have forgotten to fit the horn on.

Just found pAuLw's old post where he said his KL Verada second horn is above the passenger side foglight. May have to do some investigating on the weekend.

didnt realise you had a verada and they had two horns

But by disconnecting one should eliminate that horn surely

Yes.
They are behind the washer bottle. For security purposes I presume.
And they sound weak and muted.
