Does anybody know of approx cost/anywhere in VIC I can go to to get my 380 roof painted black, a couple of the guys in NSW have it done to their 380s and it looks amazing!?
Thanks in advance

Go to a panel beater.
When Fooz had his roof done, I believe they took out the front and rear windscreens so they could paint right into the crevices - so it wasn't a cheap exercise.

Do a photoshop job on a picture of your car first. Black looks good or silly, depending on the colour of the rest of the car.

Would work well on the OP's car - he's already got white paint, tinted windows, factory black window surrounds, and black wheels. Would be a good candidate for a black roof.

Ahh okay! thanks guys,
I have a white 380, they have silver ones, I think it would look pretty good black gloss, i was going to do matte black but ew, not sure.

a cheaper alternative is to get it wrapped in a Matt or Gloss black/cf wrap
from memory a roof would cost 300-500 to get wrapped

My front and rear wind screens came out also. If you don't have a sunroof it should be pretty straight forward. I remember my sunroof had to be opened masked up so the inner jam of the roof could be done as well.

No worries!
Yeah I shot them an email re: pricing stuff like that.
I bought a black lip spoiler from you guys Mal, I really don't want to fit it myself, would you (or any other business' you know) be able to fit it for me?
Hoping to either get the roof painted, or get a black roof from a wreck. I don't have a sun roof, so HOPEFULLY it's an easy-ish job.......

Do you mean cutting the roof out of a wreck and having it fitted to yours? Way to expensive. Get yours painted, it'll look unreal. You'll have no regrets.
Kill two birds with one stone, get the panel shop to fit the spoiler at the same time they do the roof.

I have no regrets painting my roof black, the guys who did my roof also fitted my lip spoiler. The roof looked a bit odd until I got the windows tinted!

or get a black roof from a wreck.
This requires removing 4 screens, use of an angle grinder on both cars and welding, you would still need to get the roof painted because welding damages the paint, so forget that idea. Too expensive anyway.

2 screens are fitted to most 380's, interesting your car has 4 screens Max, are they like peel off units like on a go kart helmet so when they get dirty you just throw them away :)
Also angle grinder, really, you may wish to strip panels with an angle grinder but most panel beaters use spot weld drills or similar especially on a 380 where there is no pillar to cut through
OP, if you are getting a roof done, just get what you have painted, is quite expensive to properly remove a welded panel and replace properly. Also, ask Mike to fit the lip wing for you I am sure he would be more than happy to do this as he can then touch up the holes to prevent rust later on

Windscreen front and back off the donor car and the recipient.

Fair enough take the first line back :) but then again the donor car glass would not matter and just break it out anyway

Ahhh okay, yeah he said to bring it down to take a look,
got a couple of quotes from a number of guys:
1: $350 painted in gloss black
2: $500 painted in gloss black
I was thinking of paying $200 for the new plastidip/EBC liquid wrap stuff and trying it with that, then again I *think* my roof has dents in, and it might looks shocking painted black.
Hmmmmm, decisions decisions, decisions

Plastidip has its uses but a professional gloss black jobbie would be worth the extra.

an extra $150, hmmm, I'm a poor uni student :(
I can't afford to spend this $350 on a black roof D:

To be perfectly honest, if you are not able to afford a proper job just leave it for now, is nothing worse than seeing what looks like something cool and only then looking closer to find it is a half assed job

If the panel beater cares about his work he will get the dents pushed before he paints. I certainly would not pay for the work if he just painted it and left the dents.

If mike was doing it the job would be perfect. He called me in today to look ad the D as he was concerned that the gap on the boot lid was 2mm off around the tail lights, it is simply the shape of the lights and is meant to be like it is but he still was not happy :)

If they plan to bang the dents out then $350 is a great price.
