Hey guys

I have a recent problem... My TS is shuddering under brake load... So much so that the steering is shaking.

It only does it once the brakes (and car) are warm... And if I apply the brakes lightly it doesnt do it, however when I put some serious pressure on them, the more pressure i apply, the quicker it stops (duh) but the more it shakes.

I've tried bushes, wheel bearings, replaced pads, rotors... And im out of ideas completely!

The only rotors I havent replaced are the rears... Could this be controling my steering that dramatically? (Warped rear rotors I mean)

Any help or ideas is appreciated!

It could be your.intermediate shaft or sterlering collum

I.had a similar.problem.but it was warped rotors/bushes(one of the two)

Check the condition of your tie-rod ends and rack ends.

Hmmm... The rack my mechanic said was in good condition.. Tie rods perfect, the only thing thats never (yes never) been replaced on this car is the rear rotors... Could rear rotors cause steering shudder?

Nah will usually be front rotors or wheel alignment.

Oh well i do need a wheel alignment, have for a while, it pulls to the left a little... If I fix this it should get rid of it?

Most likely.

Bearings?

Does this happen much during hard cornering?

You can test by jacking up the front of the car and try to rock your wheel to and fro toward the car. There should be no freeplay in the wheel when you grab it from the 12oclock and 6oclock position and try to rock it back and forth.

if you are braking pretty hard it may just be your ABS cutting in!! Depends on what you classify as shaking compared to another persons definition of it.
My Ts ABS did shake/vibrate the steering wheel and also a noise from the front of the car as the ABS modulator did its thing. Vee

Trust me its alignment or front rotors ive known so many people who have had this issue. If you havent had an alignment for over a year get one and if that doesnt fix it either machine or replace the front rotors. If it is anything else id be very surprised.

The front rotors are new... Well kind of, I bought them off mal about... 2 months ago? But they were machined seconds... I don't wanna blame him but it's fair to say that even though I needed an alignment way before this, the shaking only started around the time I got the rotors... But I'll look at other stuff fully before I even begin to blame him

The ball joints I haven't done.. Could be it, I'll see about everything this week, trying to fix my car up completely, gonna end up with a new car by time I'm finished spending

Everyone makes mistakes. Just trial and error until you find what it is.
