Hey guys, recently got a redback exhaust fitted however due to me being cheap, at the time I only got a rear muffler. However I've got the y-pipe rattle so I'm going to get the whole lot replaced.
If I get extractors and the whole exhaust done, will I notice a performance increase?
And will it sound different? the new muffler sounds good but is only loud in the lower revs.
Cheers guys.

Copuple of kw here and there. It depends which extractors you go with. Hm headers tend to bring the power down low and pacemakers/hurricanes bring the power up.

Realistically unless your exhaust you currently have on is extremely restrictive, expect to only gain maybe 5kws at most... You won't feel the power increase but it'll be there

If its a third gen (it is from your avatar) then hurricane or pacemaker extractors are your best bet, but hurricane isn't exactly cheap compared to pacemakers

Not sure where you get the idea that Pacemaker or Hurricane are the best bet. They may be a little cheaper but by the time with Pacemaker you get the engine pipe made up or with hurricane you modify them so they dont tap the floor you are about in the same boat $$ wise as a set of HM. HM were designed by Mitsubishi and fitted to the Ralliart as we all know.
For example if I had the option of all 3 at exactly the same price I would take HM before I even considered the others. To take it one step further I would keep the standard system over a set of Pacemakers any day (as the std manifolds dont split like the pacemaker pipes do). Pacemaker do not have a flex pipe between the 2 banks and thus as they heat up and cool down they expand and retract and will crack the pipes clean off the flanges.
One set to definitely stay away from are XForce as they are made from metal not much thicker than coke cans and I have replaced a few sets of these over the years. They tend to really let go around the welds especially just before the collector they are spot welded between the pipes and often crack there.

My brother (daniels vrx) has had pacemaker extractors on his vrx for 6 years without a problem and now they are on my verada. When we fitted up them we welded the flange onto the standard flex pipe ourselves. If you fit HM headers then you will need to either get the y pipe welded up to stop the rattle or replace it.

Considering headers but also considering skipping and just doing the rest of the exhaust. If i just get the rest of the exhaust done (without extractors) am I going to notice a difference? What about this versus doing the extractors aswell.

Pacemakers are fitted to a lot of cars on the forums. It depends where you want the power to go, I prefer to get that extra boost on the top end but many would rather it to be down low for taking off etc.
If You decide to go hm, madmagna is one of very few retailers to sell them in australia.

I'm not sure how this would apply to Magna's, being a transverse V6. Rule of thumb was tri-y headers were better for a more spread torque curve, mostly down low. While 4-1's were better for top end.
You'll probably only gain a poofteenth of a kw power wise, i'm told the headers on manga's flow pretty well.

....OR use the engine pipe which comes with the HM set???????

My bad, wasn't aware that they came with a new flex pipe.
