Hey guys,

I have a 3.5l TH Magna.

Just wondering if there was any place in WA or easy for postage that does ECU tuning and is recommended? Not wanting to take my car, just have the ECU posted/delivered and tuned.

Basically the car will be used for speedway, so need the immobiliser/engine safety detune etc removed and set up the fuel mapping for 98 ron, and otherwise only a really basic tuning for performance as the engine will be roughly stock to start with (possible head work done etc) just to test out car. Later on will do a lot more work (cams etc) to the engine and obviously require updated tuning.

And a rough price if anyone has had this done?

Or for an ECU tune like this, should I just research some more, and try buy an Openport 2.0 cable and try myself? Don't want to spend $500 to just have immobiliser and removed etc so I can get wiring done purely for speedway car.

I don't have the matching keys from when I brought the car, so can I still connect to ECU with openport and unlock it all with the openport?

Don't bother with the tune until you have more mods, the <5kw wont be worth your money IMO

But I still require an ECU that is not restricted via immobiliser, and has no "restricting" ie: sending the car into limp mode. Which is what I am really chasing, would that be easier to just pay for an Openport? Just thought the small power boosting things like changing fuel etc be easier to do if already removing immobiliser?

Umm I honestly dont know enough about it to comment on that. Will wait for someone else to chime in..

Get a J series ECU and send it to SKR to load the tune onto it.

Other than that, buy an Openport cable and use a ralliart tune, disable immob, disable limp mode etc. Do whatever you want to it.

Any idea how much that costs dreggzy?

For a TH ECU, you will require the more expensive OpenPort 2.0 cable - see the Evoscan website (http://www.evoscan.com/) for costs. F & H series ECUs are also less well supported than J/L/W series ECUs from the ROM definition point of view, but perfectly capable.

See the thread linked in my sig for more info on reflashing.

Would it be easier if i was to try find a manual TJ ecu?

To the extent that ROM definition files are publicly available for J/L/W ECUs and you can get straight down to business, yes.

With an OpenPort 2.0 cable the H ECU is just as easy to flash as the J/L/W ECUs; the OpenPort 1.3U cable can only be used for reflashing the J/L/W ECUs. There are people who work with the older ECUs, but haven't (yet) published definitions - I can PM contact details if required.

All the OpenPort cable variants work for logging.

Sorry, that would be me... I've been meaning to get that all together and release it. Time is not my friend unfortunately. I've got some other goodies that I'm just ironing out the problems with (Knock sensor + High/Low octane fuel target maps, outputs on condition, valet mode, switchable maps for e85/RON, etc)

Been hunting around the forums trying to find info on how easy it is to get the ECU reflashed in my KH Verada.
Some info I came accross suggested that the KH Verada ECU hasn't been fully 'decoded' as it has different architecture to other ECU's - Is this correct?

I'm running LPG and planning some minor mods in the future. Right now I'm trying to figure my ECU options and right on top is getting the factory ECU reflashed. I dont want to put an aftermarket ECU in, due to the cost/installation and all the little niggly shit that does your head in...

So, whats my options with a KH Verada?
I saw Steve Knight mentioned in a post from a few years back, is he still doing this kinda stuff and how would I get in contact with him?

Maybe if you call and speak to Steve he may be able to point you in the right direction, being in South Australia as well may make it easier for you to take your car there for a proper tune instead of a postal tune? Link to his page: http://www.skr.com.au/

SKR is not the only one that can do these in Adeladie. Mike Dale Automotive in Holden Hill (Adelaide) offers this service too.

He specalises in Mitsubishi. Owner operator, great bloke and rallys a nice Evo 10 I think it is so he is always working with Mitsi vehicles

He looks after my VRX/Verada and does a great job. Very honest and upfront which is what you want.

Another question.
Can the fuel system cope with E85? I can get E85 at the pump here for around 135 cpl, but I'm not sure how much of my fuel system i'm going to need to upgrade. If it is more than a few injectors, i may give it a miss and just run 100 RON pump juice.

The idea in my mind is that LPG is around the 100 RON mark, so if I can get retuned for 100 RON (and/or E85) I should be getting better power and economy. Combine this with some headers and a exhaust, should give me enough KW to notice a difference, right?

Thought I should get a bit more info together before I go pestering people while they are working.
