hey all looking at getting a sub and amp for my car soonish, spending about 1000
i was thinking along the lines of a kicker comp vr with a monoblock amp in a ported box.
what do you all think?
or is there a better brand i can go have a listen to??
just scouting opinions so i know what to loof for/ask about when i head into the shops!!!

FHRX posted this list to suit similar requirements a while back. Hope it helps, & Enjoy :D

i just installed a Fusion 15 inch sub being run by a 4 channel Fusion powerplant amp ($900 total) into a mates lancer coupe, and i highly recommend it. Goes lots harder than my other mates two 12" kicker CVR's running off a 600w RMS cadence monoblock ($1500 total).

id persoanlly look at getting a sealed box, rather than ported, but it just depends on what sort of setup you want
ported boxes give you more SPL (sound pressure level), whereas a sealed box is better for SQ setups (sound quality)
monoblock amp is definitely the way to go, dont have the hassle of increasing total harmonic distortion when you bridge a 2 channel amp.
*phew*
anyone else confused ? :)

Howdy.. hard to tell from your profile if your fronts are already amped.. if not, I'd be doing that at the same time as getting a sub or you'll over power your fronts :)
I bought an Audison SRx3 from fhrx for my setup which is a 3 channel amp (2 x 75W + 1 x 250W @ 4ohm), two channels for the front splits and one big-ass channel for the sub. The amp cost me somewhere around the $650-$700 mark which leaves plenty out of $1000 for a reasonable sub, and you get to amp your fronts at the same time.
