Hey guys just starting this week my car has had a weird issue with not starting, turn the key but nothing happens as if the battery is dead. Pop the bonnet and wiggle the connectors on the battery, try again and car starts as normall.
I've done this the past 2 days with exactly the same process. Doesn't start check connectors, try again.....and it fires straight up. Any ideas to what this could be? I believe my battery might be the issue or the connector (they look clean though) thanks

Think you might have answered your own question. Either your terminals are loose (solution = tighten them), they have corrosion between the post and terminal (take the terminals off and give them and the posts a light file or sand before replacing tightly), your terminals might be stuffed or there could be a break in the cable (consider replacements). You should not be able to wiggle the connectors at all relative to the battery and you need a very good battery connection for the starter motor to get all the amps it needs. Note that removing the terminals will reset your ECU so the engine might rev a bit higher than usual for a couple of days.
CAUTION: Remove both terminals and make sure they are well clear of the battery before filing anything to ensure you don't accidentally create a short circuit with your file.

Ok I'll have to try that, there not actually 'loose' it takes a bit of force but I move them slightly and then it just works after that. I just find it weird that after doing that the car can start essentially I'm not really doing anything I would have thought

I would try cleaning your terminals or worse case is see if you can buy those metal terminal rings so you can tighten it up alittle more

Was there a white/greenish powder in between? Or anything else? Good to see it seems fixed! :)

It's surprising how little oxidation is required to reduce conductivity to the point that the starter motor won't turn the engine, or even click the solenoid in some cases, yet still supplies enough power for lights, radio etc. My old TN used to do the same until I replaced the terminals, the old ones couldn't tighten any more and there was still a tiny bit of movement, enough to let oxygen/moisture in I guess. It's all about amps, starter motors require sh1tloads (hence the thick leads). Good to know the problem might be fixed.

In this case, a "sh1tload" equates to about 300 amps initially but reduces as the starter and engine start to turn. lol
Another possible problem is an internal rupture in the battery cell connectors. If the phantom no-start reoccurs, replace the battery.

Yea the battery was a bit dirty, cleaned it up as well as the terminals. hasnt had a issue in the past couple of days - seems that it was a connectivity issue
