Hey fellow AMCers, if one was to fit an ECU and BEM from a TH Sports into a TH Exec, is it going to chuck a fit or hamper the drivability, as there will be a lack of TCL circuitry and ECU's (aswell as ABS ECU etc)?
The main reason is fitting tippy, what once looked like an easy job, which is now looking like a difficult job, as the donor car is a TH Sports, which is now hopefully going to work if I can figure out a cheap, working solution.
Cheers guys.
ED: If I were to carry out a KH Verada loom conversion to my TH, am I looking at any obstacles? My main concerns are things like ABS and TCL and the lack of. Am I going to have any problems when carrying this out or will it be simply take the old looms out and new looms in?
Also, can the looms be mixed up a bit? EG only do the interior looms and leave the engine bay looms as the standard Exec looms? Or is it all or none?
If you can reflash your ECU, you can turn off TCL function and keep same ECU.
Even if you were just swapping ECU and BEM, if you're able to reflash, you can read immobiliser code from ROM and reflash to another ECU to pair it with your original BEM.

You cannot reflash TH ECU's

However you can put in a j series ECU and flash that. Just unlock it first.

Would I be able to grab the shifter, appropriate loom, ECU + BEM, and locks? The main question is whether the ECU is going to be cranky due to not being able to see anything to do with TCL or ABS.

If you unlock the ECU and disable TCL then it won't be a problem.

So it'll have to be a TJ ECU + BEM then I guess. What a pain....

Ummm... wtf... Yes you can. Some TF and all TH can be reflashed.
They use a H8 processor.

Then everyone goes home a winner. I just relayed info I received from Steve Knight when I sent him my ECU to unlock and reflash. It wasn't possible as they apparently required a Mitsubishi chip interface unit or something. Either way, If you can flash it, then you can help old mate the OP.
The engine loom will still require modification though.

All ecus arent locked unless some has changed the init code.
Just need ecuflash, defs, and cable.

Bump. Added new questions to OP.

As BCX7 notes, H series (and late F series) ECUs are reflashable. You do require an appropriate cable and ROM definition file though to make changes to the ROM easily.
With regards to BEM compatibility, I have a report that an immobiliser code from an H series ECU does not work in a J series ECU when connected to the matching H series BEM which I haven't been able to confirm. If this is the case this doesn't mean the problem is insoluble - just that research will be required into the differences if the immobiliser is required to be operational.
