View Full Version : Flywheel spacer?

Is there any sort of spacer plate that sits between the flywheel and crankshaft?

I have an engine in my manual 4cyl TR that originally suited an automatic transaxle.

For whatever reason it seems as if the flywheel doesn't sit flush with this new crank, as if there is supposed to be a component I don't know of, some sort of sandwich plate that sits inside the small valley in the center of the flywheel where it bolts to the engine.

Any advice?

Can't speak about the good old Astron 2 as I've never had a gearbox/trans off of it. I can say that there shouldn't be any sort of spacer in between as this could be a major points of failure. Having done a few v6 trans & gearbox swaps I can say that the flywheel bolts straight on.

I wouldn't think that the crank would be different between auto's / manual's either. That would be mayhem.

Can you provide pics? And do you have a factory manual or gregories that you're using?
