I have a TJ VR-X with the digital aircon/climate control unit with thee screen in the middle. i want to change the bulbs in it to match my dash which is red, does anyone know what size the bulbs are and where to get them.

They're a "neo wedge" bulb... I think there may be two sizes in there, 5 and 10. Somebody will correct me.

Use bulb covers over LED's... just my opinion. You get better light. I've done what you're trying do.

Go to Jaycar and get an smd strip. You need to wire this in to a separate power source and tape it into place, but it gives a nice even light

ive done some digging around and i think there a t4 bulb which i can get covers for from america. i would use a strip but i don't want the hassle of finding another power source.

Why another power source and not weld to the contacts? And are Jaycars smd strips backed by a company name?
I have bought strips time and time again off ebay, no issues and much cheaper. Though there are many options... I always get the 5050 and make sure they are bunched up rather than some of the seriously sparse ones Ive seen. Ive always used silicone to hold down led strips.

I have tried the wide angle leds and the covers fade. The smd strip is the only way to get good even light. There is a power source below the ashtray, the plug that goes nowhere
