Hay guys

Would 245/45/17 be ok for Clearence on a magna on lows? I've heard off a couple 255 but that seems abit wide lol. Anyone running this size?

Cheers

And if youre doing it for traction I can guarantee it wont help. Buy better tyres, not larger.

Yes that is evo 7 wheel sizing.

235 is ideal size for a 8 inch rim in terms of handling, with 245 giving squirm due to the sidewalls bulging up the opposite way to a stretched tyre figment.
A 245 is only an extra 10cm per side anyway (less than 5%extra), I'd go the tyre size that best suits the rim.

On the other hand if they are real cheap or something you may get away without scrub etc, at least on the back, but I've never tried this combo so don't take my word for it

I had 245/40/18 "Autogrip" (Chinese tyres) on Sports suspension and no dramas.
Replaced them with same size Kumho KU31 and they scrubbed when turning hard and suspension travelled significantly, eg riding a curb while turning.
Fitted coilovers and lowered around 2" and now it scrubs at lock, but suspension travel doesn't induce scrubbing while turning - maybe because the coilovers are stiff, there isn't as much travel as before.

So 245s scrubbing will depend on wheel offset and even the make & model of the tyre.

Ok guys got new tyres this morning lucky my mate has a tyre shop and I could try out some different tyres. I tried kumho ku36 federal 595rsr sumitomo htrz 3 and nexen n8000. Well surprisingly enough the best grip tyre was the nexen n8000 it was awesome overall tyre it's the top off the line nexen tyre my mate said a fair few off his mates have used these in f6 typhoons BMW m3 and Porsche and they think there better than there previous tyres Pirelli all top off the line tyres. I got 245/45/17 slightly bigger than the factory 235 there's a little bit off roll but I don't mind. Car feels a little bit heavier and slower too.

I couldn't believe you didn't think the ku36 were grippy enough, they are fantastic! but each to their own

When u have a 3.8 you'll understand all the grip u had with the 3.5 goes out the window. Especially now were in winter cars get a fair bit off power from the colder weather

Kumhos are good, but still a budget tyre. The nexens I had on my old vrx rims where great

Kuhmo KU 36's need a little heat to get good..

Tyre testing, by slipping on new tyres and taking them around the block is pointless, waxy coatings take a while to wear off, I had new tyres fitted yesterday, and waiting to about 2-300 km's before the true tyre performance can be felt...

My bad, came up in tyre reveiw search.. which I thought was new posts... Oooops heh heh

I really fail to see how you could cakk a Kuhmo a "budget" tyre, if you have the lower range then by all means, I have the KU39's on the VR4 and love them and will most likely put a set on the Diamante when the Maxis on them wear out

Its a fine between a Highend tyre now and medium range tyre. I was offered all premium performance tyres from Pirelli, Michelin and Goodyear for under a 1000k a set retail, fitted and balanced.
If you can get the KU31's for 200 a corner get the Pilot sports 3 or the Asym 2's
But you're spot on mal, I couldn't put KU37's in the same basket as a say "Blue streak" or similar...

The kumho range are great value no doubt.
