I am planning a rather tricky carputer build in my TJS2 Sport, which will have a 10 inch screen take up the entirety of the DIN and climate control panel. I've already decided to move the hazard light button to the place where the cigarette lighter socket is, but I need to do something about the climate control.

Just to be absolutely clear, it is an electronic climate control system, with two plugs with two rows. I am considering scrapping the unit and making my own control of the aircon system. To do so, I need to know what the unit is actually driving.

I am guessing that the box on the panel does all the decision making (quite a few ICs in it), meaning that it is driving electromechanical components near directly. But I don't know if this is true, or what wires do what. I bought a second one to do some testing on, but it is going to be hard to probe both rows of connectors.

Does anyone know what exactly the CC unit does, and what the wires do? I have done a few searches around and haven't turned anything up.

As far as I know the TJ series 2 "climate control" unit contains the cabin air temp sensor. So, you'll need to relocate that somehow while still providing air flow to the sensor.

If you're that keen I'd suggest finding a donor unit and the wiring diagram, work your way through it all from there.

It's going to be a bit of a task though - good luck.

Yep, as I said, I bought a donor unit for the purpose. Problem is reaching the bottom row of the connectors from the inside.

well, I'm out... not THAT much of an electrical guru. Not saying it cant be done, and my brain does understand what needs to be done, I just don't have the skills or knowledge to do the job properly.

The climate control screen is actually the ecu as well. It has inputs from all the sensors, and then outputs to all the motors. You can download the diagrams in a PDF format to ascertain what all the wires do.

You cannot simply delete the ecu, but you can be crafty with its inputs.

If you are real crafty, you may be able to use a JDM c/c front plate in the ashtray section and mount your own pcb into that, and then you can solder into the magna ecu which you can hide behind the console. You'll lose the display though.

The unit controls the vent servos, temp inputs, compressor pressure, fan motors.

Could you relocate it to the glovebox? Orrrr the drivers kick pane below the steering wheel. Jakeys did a photoshop of where he could fit a stereo processor down that and it looked really good

I am thinking of making my own "ECU" for the task. I have the THTJTL series of files, is this the one you are referring to?

Yeah I thought so (mcs_xi said this too). Thanks for confirming this suspicion guys.
