Hi there, I have just noticed a knocking sound that starts at around 85-90 klm/h, and gets louder as I pick up speed. It is not noticeable at slower speeds, I can not feel it through the steering wheel or the pedals, it sounds like a metallic sound and is knocking at wheel speed but the sound stops at bellow 80klm/h, if that makes sense.
I did jack the front up and spun the wheels and to me would not say it was wheel bearings.
Yes I will take the car to the mechanics this week but would rather find the problem myself $$$
The car is a 2003 Magna with 160,000 ks if that helps at all.
Thanks all...

It could be almost anything, but here's my top four: (1) Bearing issue somewhere would be my 1st guess. (2) Check also for loose splash guards (the black plastic shields used under the engine, under the front bumper & around the insides of the wheel arches - even the plastic mud flaps). Sometimes the cheap plastic bolts/clips break causing the shields to flap as the wind speed increases (this may explain why no knocking bellow 80km/h). (3) Check also exhaust mounts - under higher speeds some vibration my cause it to knock against the body somewhere. (4) Have your mechanic check the rubber bushes in your suspension - again, vibration at higher speed may be the culprit.

its not a loose antenna that is flapping when speed increases in the body mount?? Vee
