View Full Version : Brake issue
Hay guys
Fitted my 380 brakes today had no troubles fitting. I bled the brakes a fair few times but the pedal goes straight down to the floor I've literally got no breaks unless I pump the pedal and the breaks start to work. Cant see any leaks either. Any suggestions. I noticed the 380 break line is longer than the magna line. The 380 breaks are huge compared to the magna ones.
Cheers Kurt

Bleed them again id say you left air in there somewhere. Make sure your fluid is full

What method did you use to bleed them?

Pump pedal 3 times then hold pedal then crack the bleed nipal and break pedal goes to floor then repeat

Gravity bleed them until its a steady flow then do the pump and hold method.
I would say that your master cylinder seals are stuffed. You need to replace them. Check the condition of the bore of the cylinder whilst you are at it - it is probably corroded.

Probably got air in the master cylinder. If so, bleed that first, as pumping the pedal doesn't move the fluid if there is air in there. Try gravity bleed all round, starting with the longest line working back to the shortest. Takes a while for bubble free fluid to come through, so take your time.

Pumping the pedal when bleeding properly DOES move the air Max, I really wonder where you get these snippets of mis information
Ricky, as I said on the phone to you this morning, grab a bottle, some vac hose, insert that hose into the bottle and open the bleed nipple, 8 or 9 gentle pumps of the pedal on each corner and you should solve your issue. Make sure the master stays topped up of course or you have to start from scratch. Also make sure are full pumps of the pedal keeping in mind 2 wheels will not allow full pedal depression due to the dual circuit system

This might seem like a silly suggestion but after you bled them did you top the fluid reservoir all the way up? I know the first time I did a brake swap I didn't put enough, and when I got back in and had a few pumps of the pedal there was nothing because after finishing more fluid filled in the master cylinder and there wasn't enough left in the reservoir. Just a simple check.
After bleeding the system lots off times with no luck end up buying a new master cylinder and bled the cylinder and all clippers again with no luck :( . Don't think I'm gonna try fix this anymore.

Just take it to a brake shop, or any mechanics really, they'll charge you next to nothing to do it properly

It's a simple job, don't know how it could go so wrong. I suppose the 380 calipers were in working condition? Def take it to a brake shop.

Oh for crying out loud max, no mate, he drilled holes in the callipers for better cooling
Ricky, I really think you need to go back and look at the whole job again. Check the callipers are mounted correctly, check rotors are seated. Are you giving the brakes complete full pumps. Are the callipers mounted on the correct side with the bleed nipples at the top. Not having a go bu have seen this occur once before

Something stands out from wat us said. The bleed nipples are facing towards the ground not upwards. Wat that do the trick mal? Can't believe I would off mounted the calipers the wrong way they seemed to be perfect.

All good mate, we all make mistakes and believe me this is not the first time someone has done this, have seen this twice before and both times from people who on these forum thought they are the experts, thankfully both are no longer members as this was just the icing on the cake for one of them
