On one of my cars (Audi) when I want to change lanes I tap the indicator stalk and the indicators flash 3 times for when I change lanes without needing to "lock" it in.
Anyone know if there is some kind of relay that can be installed into a 3rd gen to get this feature?

I LOVE this feature in mine.
I miss it greatly when I drive my Verada. You will have to search around for it. Possibly use a flasher unit from a Euro car, or more likely design your own circuit.

you can buy kits for everything these days http://www.kahtec.com/lane_changer.htm

Oh, so that explains why some drivers on the freeway are able to only have the indicator on for a tiny amount of time after they actually start moving across while still managing to not give anyone around any actual warning...
Do city buses have these as standard?...

CJ lancers have this also as well as the current model Falcoon and Commodores. Wouldn't be too hard to retro fit I'd imagine...

Our 2009 Astra has this as well, on my car I just light push the indicator down enough that it starts going off and then lift my finger off when I've changed lanes at least that way it doesn't lock in..

Haha exactly what I do as well
Yeah, as mentioned before on here, there are kits you can buy to do it and some allow you to program how many clicks. I always find the 3 clicks in our MY08 Outlander XLS is not long enough. Should be at least 5.

To be honest I was thinking that it would be as simple as to install some delay relay where there is an adjustable time for it to switch off.
Otherwise the Kahtec one seems like a decent enough option

The Kahtec thing IS a simple delay relay with an adjustable time for it to switch off.

I think the idea behind this feature was that it solves the problem of people forgetting to switch off their indicators after changing lanes, but the result is we're lucky to get 3 flashes warning from those drivers before they push into our lane. Personally i like to give plenty of warning to others and i like to hold the stick without locking it. That way i control how many flashes there are and its guaranteed to stop when i release it.
But i've driven cars with that feature and if done right it can be convenient.
came across this searching for something else. tap turn flasher relay and supposedly plug and play.

In short no. You would have to rewire the light circuit up. It a 8 pin device and the flasher can is only a 3 pin. So it a no.
