I just inspected my cap and rotor as per the 180,000km service. They are very worn compared to new however the car is running fine and I am wondering how much longer I could get out of them.

I took some pictures but could not get a good picture without taking the wires off and removing it from the car. The 'contacts' in the cap look about half worn away if I was to clean off the white erroded stuff. They are full width where they go into the cap and looking from the side they tapper diagonally into a point.

If the car is running well, leave it. Just have the spares ready when you get a misfire situation.

I see the wreckers near me have a TH with 105,000km. Might get the cap and rotor off that. They only want $16 for both.

I don't want it to be stopping in the middle of nowhere and having to change it in the rain or be late for work.
