3.5l TJ 2002 sedan done 225 000km. Cooling fans are noisy and today I checked the play on them, which is reasonable on the RHS fan, but is rather a large amount of play on the left side fan (blade outer edge moves in-out about 5mm if one pulls-pushes on it). Has anyone had similar issues? If anyone has replaced bearings, please post. I guess my other options are wrecker, Mitsubishi replacement or Bursons/Repco/Auto1. Has anyone ahd a fan disintegrate?
Here's hoping the bearings are external and can be replaced. I know bearings can be bought real cheaply, whereas with a fan from wreckers one can feel for play/free running, but still risky don't really know what you are getting.

From past experience the noisy stage is just before they stop working altogether. lol
Replaced mine with one from a wreckers, all good. Don't know if they can be stripped down to get to the bearings, didn't bother - plenty at the wreckers. Look for a third gen with a mechanical speedo (so you can read it) and pick fans off a low km one.
