We got a noise.

It comes from (i think) the back, and only up till around 50 or so k's and then it goes away.

Its not too loud, its a deep drony kind of noise, kinda like when you blow across the top of an open bottle (try it now with a coke bottle, its fun :D). Anyway i was thinking maybe the rear brakes arent releasing properly, oh and also, as soon as you so much as touch the brake pedal the noise goes away.

Thats all i can think of thats out the back of the car and would depend on speed. Anythign else like bearings or something vibrating would just get worse with speed.

Any ideas?
Thanks

I had a similar problem in my KR Verada. Does it sound kind of like a droning? t kept getting worse and worse until I got Mitsu to look at it. It turned out the front and rear window seals were faulty and they woudl get a harmonic vibration, particularly when it was windy.

Hope this helps.

well wouldnt that get louder and louder as you went faster? this stops at going over 60, and as soon as you touch the brakes... So i dont think its that.

When we bought the car, the copy of the RWC we got said that the mechanic had to unseize one of the rear brake calipers, so maybe its playing up again? or one ofthe return spring things is playing up? I dunno, ill have a look at it sometime soon, im 90% sure its the brakes tho, only thing that makes sense...

thanks anyway BlackVRX

You would think that it would get louder but it didn't. Since it was a harmonic vibration it would only kick in at particular speeds, between 60 and 90. We found that tapping the brake would stop it temporarily and surprisingly, using the windshield wipers. On our trip to Melbourne we emptied the washer reservior in about 2 hours. But you're right, it doesn't quite sound the same as your problem.

Good luck with it. Let us know how you go.
