hey all

having a intermittent problem in the VR-X

the same night after pickup, dad took it to get ice-creams for the family.when it was iding in the 7-eleven the tcl and engine light came on.the next day it happened again and to test i had no traction(i have dealer fitted cheap tyres unfortunately).

through discussion with a Mitsu Mechanic(Authorised) and members/forum research i have nailed it down to the TCL solenoids.i havent had a chance to get it scanned yet and until yesterday has not happened since.i think the solenoids are sensitive to the heat.

is there any other items i could have missed, and are the TCL solenoids able to be DIY replaced?

There was a thread raised by ben205vs recently regarding a similar problem.

If it was dealer purchased, why not take it back to them under warranty?

Hell if it did it the night you got it, thats not good enough.

For some reason in nsw if the car is 10yrs/160,000km+ it has no warranty

However i did budget for something like this,i just want to know what to look for

Apparently TCL errors can be read just like engine and gearbox error codes, from flashes of the TCL light.

No clue on the process though.

EDIT: Section 13H has the error codes. Check them before replacing bits randomly. From a quick read through, it could be anything from a wheel sensor not reading correctly, to a TPS mis-adjustment.
