Im sure you could go as far as 19's or 20's with really low profile tyre.. im not sure about the width of the tyre for 3rd gens, with 2nd gens i know if u go bigger than 245 your gonna have problems..

20s will fit if you can find a 235/30/R20 tyre that meets 95 load rating (good luck)... It's all about width and offset that determine whether it fits; the widest I have seen is 8.5" with some minor scrubbing at full lock.

booya's old rims were 17x9 (not sure about the tyres) and they didn't seem to stick out of the arches.. not sure about suspension scrubbing tho!

The largest rims that would fit a 3rd gen are 20", with 225/35/20 tyres.

HOWEVER!!! Insurance companies and cops will RAPE you. 20" rims in any state are illegal on 3rd gens, regardless of the tyre load rating, they are considered simply too big.

That depends on your insurance company's policy on wheel size changes ;-)

I'm yet to find an insurance company that allows a 5" increase in wheel diameter.

And you're local traffic authority. Most only alow 2 inch above the largest option.

Heres some info on legality if you want it.. its a publication by the RTA on Vehicle Standards Information labelled A Guide for Alternative Wheels and Tyres.. might help if your checking out whats legal and insurable...

I have currently got a set of 18" TSW VX1's there 18x8 and run 225/35 R18.
Little scrub on the plastic wheel arch liner but that's about it.

20's wont fit cos of the suspension.

its been tried and it dont work. (US magnas) I also asked a tyre company, and he wasnt confident they'd fit..

19' is the most "reasionable" wheel you will fit.

its "RIM WIDTH" that is the ultimate deciding factor about whether it will fit or not.

so long as the overall diamater of the wheel remains the same, it doesnt matter whether u have 13's or 20's.
If u can get 20"x7" or something, there's no reason why they shouldnt fit. Infact tehre is a TL in my area that has 20's on it......and the guy has no problems with it.

Is 8.5" or 9" the widest you can go on a 3rd gen ?
