hi guys i have a question.....
can your water pump still be stiffed even if it looks good?

my thermostat carked it the other night which cause the car to over heat .... the top tank on the radiator split at the seal to the alloy section as well.......
i replaced the radiator and thermostat for the car to still heat up...... no heat from the heater until i gave her some revs then some hot air came through then stopped again, so i thought ok water pump too, the water pump is off and i can't find a fault.....the thing still turns freely, doesn't wobble on the bearing and the fins are still solid on the pulley... so im lost.

sounds like a blockage to me, may have to get a system flush, or even though its brand new, the thermostat still could be cactus, just because its brand new, doesn't mean its not faulty

Sounds like the water pump is ok.

Could just be air in the system. Warm the car up with the radiator cap off, and watch if the coolant level drops. Watch the temp gauge to see if the thermostat opens, once it starts to move air will come out of the system. Then top up.

The V6 usually ends up with some air left in it despite what you do, so that it sucks a full load of coolant in the overflow bottle back into the system after a few warmup/cool down cycles. (rad cap on of course)

If you have the 4 cylinder, someone else will need to tell you how to bleed air out of the system.

i did a bleed of the system after putting new thermo in then i thought it could be stuffed so ran it without the thermo just the rubber ring to seal it and still heated up lol

It heated up without thermostat due to design, never run a 6g motor without thermostat

thanks Mal, Ill try it with the new water pump and see how it goes.
