View Full Version : Cruise Controll Issue
This may be a stupid question or may not be, I dunno, hence the post here..
My Issue is that my cruise control has just stopped working!!!.. I have a TE Altera so its a factory cruise control. When I first noticed it playing up the "cruise" light on the dash flickered and then went off, never to be seen again.
The switch on the dash still lights up but the cruise control itself will not kick in. One of the guys who has his certificate had a quick look at the obvious things like fuses and so forwarth but I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas where I should look or should I just bite the bullet and take it to the pros and have the magic plastic ready to cop the damage...
thanks.

A plug-in of the diagnostics handheld will reveal all... get the plastic ready.
I'm assuming only the professionals have access to these diagnositcs handhelds.... bummer...

yeah only mitsi dealers have access to these units and most of em are dodgy bastards... just try and figure out a price before they look at it.. if they don't find it straight away they'll look at it for a while and charge u by the hour even if they don't fix it...
i found out the hard way :(
hey mine does excatly the same as this, it 5hits me
had it looked at quickly by a mate mechanic but hadnt done nething with manual cruise controls before, so no luck at all...
let me know how ya go

Did that actually fix the problem?? If so doesn't that mean that the problem actually lies in the toggle switch?
Or did it remove the problem by simply removing any control you had over the cruise control?

Mine did this too, but I have had it fixed.
The problem was the actual cruise control unit itself which is located under the bonnet on the right hand side of the engine bay (near the washer bottle). I had mine replaced under warranty, but how much it would be otherwise, I have no idea.
I am pretty sure this is your problem as mine flickered as well when I tried to engage it.

i had this problem once after i got a clutch replaced.
clutch peddle needed adjustment so it wasnt so soft.. cos viabrations would trigger the c/c to think i put my foot on the peddle.
simple nut adjustment behind the peddle.. :S
