Bought some rear parking sensors off ebay recently. Managed to get the wire connected to reversing light done while the installer installed new head unit recently. (wired to drivers side) All connections connect to control unit which will sit in boot.
Two questions. Any thoughts on how/where to runcables from sensors when fitted up into boot area, keeping in mind they will have to go across to the right. I am aware of the rubber plug on the left of the boot but it is already taken up with other wiring I have running in.
Secondly, again any thoughts on the best or easiest way to run a connector wire from the boot back through the rear seat area to the front dash. There doesn't seem to be any obvious gaps or holes to aim for from the boot area, except lowering the centre piece which I don't want to use.
Here is the unit in question. A simple unit with all wires just clipping into the control unit. It's just a matter of finding the easiest ways to run all the cables.

thanks for any help.

Highlander, do a search for my post on finding a hole to go from boot to cabin. Basically, unclip the C-pilar and you will see a hole to the boot (by shining a torch from the boot above the wheel arch). One exists on each side. Also for mounting the controller, remove the scrivets holding on the matting for the drivers side tail light and the side one, remove the matting and you will see a H shaped vertical plate behind the wheel arch. Mine mounted to that between the plate and boot wall. I have run both the beeper and a power cable for a by-pass switch through to the front, the beeper ran across the boot under the parcel shelf and through the passenger side hole, down to the bottom and wedged under the plastic step seal thing, rang all the wat to the front and mounted infront of the gear lever. The by-pass cable was run through the drivers side to a switch on the left of the steering wheel (I also use the power for this to power the wireless reverse camera receiver and also to trigger the 2Din unit to go to reverse camera mode). The by-pass is handy to turn if off when towing.
As for how to pass the individual sensor wires to the controller, I am not sure, but I think you will need to remove the plastic trim on the opening of the boot where the latch is.

If you want, I can take a photo of where the controller is mounted.

Vlad thanks for the tips. Sounds like you bought what I did. I will take a look at what you have suggested, thanks

Follow the antenna cable route.

How effective are these systems? I haven't been lucky enough to drive a car with them fitted but I feel it is the one feature I desire.

I put some on my TL Wagon. Worst part was drilling through the plastic bumper only to find the massive metal rear bar behind it! (check first next time!). Managed to get them fitted with a little creative engineering. They are actually really good. Accurate and reliable, just use common sense when reversing. Worth the ~$40 investment.

Having driven cars with this as a standard feature, they are very effective and very useful.
Don't know how good the aftermarket stuff is though

They work very well. Managed to reverse parallel park into a tight spot and when I came back, had owners of the cars infront and behind question me how I got in. Reverse camera add that little bit extra. I decided to get the sensors when I almost reversed into a big boulder in Waitpinga beach in pitch black conditions.

After reversing my ute into two poles, one either side of the park :P , I get quite nervous reversing.

I had them mounted on my Triton Ute, worked really well in conjunction with a reverse camera. If I did the job again I would have two sensors in the front bumper and two in the rear and a manual power up switch. I scraped the front left guard on my current Pajero reverse turning into a space with those small wooden stumps just out of sight! I found on the Triton that the two inner sensors would detect the towball so they had to be disconnected anyway, this frees them up for use at the front. Seemed to work fine with just two outer sensors active. My screen had the little countdown bars and distance in metres. Only about $60 on Ebay.

The factory outlander ones have a switch to go into tow mode where it deactivates the middle two. However, my setup does not pickup the tow ball.

just an update on my sensors. I'm very happy with them given the cheap price and being an eBay purchase. Work well in conjunction with my reverse camera. Had to drill through the foam in front of the bar but other than that it went together easily. I would recommend them to others.

Did you colour code them to match the car's paint?

yes. I bought a set in white so I started with a similar colour. As I have mentioned in the odd other thread my white is mawson white so I purchased the mawson white in the spray can that super cheap sell. I previously tested it on touch up spots and was happy with the match so sprayed the sensors in this colour and I am very happy with the match. I might actually take some photos later and throw them on here.

Here are some photos of the sensors painted and installed.
