Hi guys im in the process of putting a TL Rear Axle into my TE, one issue is the hand brake mount is different, on the TE it bolts to the same spot as the caliper, on the TL it actually runs through a hole and is secured by a clip, however the TE Bracket looks like its not removable from the cable.

And suggestions on what I can do? Thanks in advance.

Here are some pics to help explain the issue.

In this pic you can see the route the cables take, the Red line is the TE Handbrake Run.

In this one the Redline is still the TE run.

This one explains itself.

I did think that I could just crack out the grinder and grind/cut of the part that gets in the way. Thoughts?

On the TE the only choice you have is using the TL hand brake cables, this is what we do. The TL system is far better than the old TE-J system in so far as cable mounting anyway

Thanks Mal, I was pretty set on grinding the TL Mount out of the way but I had to go the wreckers anyway and I noticed the TL Handbrake Cables were still there, clips and all, so I got both sides for $30, now heres hoping the mounting points are the same.

Thankfully the TL I took the axle and the cables out of, someone had removed the fuel tank which is making removal very very easy.

Hey! I suggested using the TL cables first! lol Where's my "thanks" ??

And keep the old brake cables, some members may want them.

Sorry Max, thanks for your help you were prompt in your answer.

These old cables are fairly new so I dont plan to toss them.

Just joking with you. As long as you get it sorted, that's the main aim.
Put the cables up in the "for sale" section, $30 plus postage, and you got your money back! win-win all round. lol

Haha im hoping someone has use for the old Axle aswell. I really do prefer how these TL ones mount, much easier to work with.
