I have booked my car in for a window tint.

35% is the legal limit, but is there a factory tint?
Should I get a slightly lighter tint to overcome this to make sure it remains legal or is this not an issue?

Thanks

If I recall correctly the factory tint is 3 percent.
Legalities vary from state to state. For different Windows too.
I like a legal car.
You would have to be doing something pretty wrong to get busted here in Queensland. But they are getting tougher.
Your call. ..

Can anyone else confirm the stock tint percentage of a KJII Verada?

And do the rails or something ruin the tint on the front windows? I see a line on the window that can be cleaned off which must be from a rail, but on a softer film maybe it would scratch?

35% is reasonably dark. I dare say factory tint is more than 50% VLT. Its quite light. My magna came with factory fitted tint (now dismal condition) and its very light.

If your cars completely legal or pretty much I wouldn't be too concerned about window tint even if it is a little darker than legal.. My windows are 5% which I've had for almost 5 years and never been bothered once about it

I am more concerned with insurance being void rather than getting defected.
The car is otherwise stock and does not attract any attention

Well if you go the darkest legal tint I'm pretty sure it will say on the receipt the tint percentage, also don't quote me on this but after getting the tint done it can only go lighter from when it was installed.. So over time it will fade slightly and if you get really crappy film it will fade ALOT and sometimes even go purple.. I found a cheap place that did mine for $175 at 15% and after 6 months it was around 45%.. So I ripped it off and tinted them myself at 5%.. Much happier now :)

In SA you cant have anything darker than 70% on the windscreen and 35% on the others. However most people do 35% all around and cops dont normally care too much about the windscreen.
