pick up v6 manual today will not select third gear. im guessing the box is stuffed as there is no adjustment.
can it be fixed or do i just throw my spare box in it .

check the cable adjustments
there are a few adjusments possible under the consul

try finding third at the gearbox at the box
if cables seem ok

if its crunching into 3rd thats a different matter

worth getting a quote from a gearbox repairer or madmagna

I don't know how accurate this info is . . . failing memory and all that - but there should be 3 bolts on the side of the gearbox that can be accessed. They hold the detent balls and springs. Maybe locate them, pull them out one at a time and see if the shifter works?
You might want to refer to the manual to see which is relevant to 3rd gear.

Hopefully this is a simple to fix problem, save you pulling out the gearbox. A real PITA job.
