Hi guys Im currently in the process of upgrading my car audio system Ill just be swapping out the old goodies and putting these in the 380.

Front 6.5;
JBL GTO608C 6.5" GT Component Speakers
Power Handling:
Peak: 210 watts
RMS: 70 watts
Independence: 2Ohm

Rear 6x9s;
JBL GTO938 6x9" GT Car Speakers
Power Handling:
Peak: 300 watts
RMS: 100 watts
Independence: 2Ohm

4 Channel amp
Pioneer GM-D9500F 4/3/2 Channel Amplifier
RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 75 watts x 4 Ch
2 ohms: 100 watts x 4 Ch

Mono Amp
Alpine MRP-M500 Subwoofer Amplifier
RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms:300 watts x 1 channel.
2 ohms: 500 watts x 1 channel.

Subwoofer
JBL GTO in enclosure

4 Ohms RMS 300watts

So should I fine tune the gains myself or let a car audio store do it for me. Or should the basic settings on the amps be more then enough.

If you are unsure about your ability then give a store $50 to level set the amps properly, it will give you peace of mind that you aren't clipping the speakers and wont burn them out.

The guy who tuned my amps used an app from itunes called audio toolkit pro to tune the amp with a multi meter seemed easy to use too. might be worth a look for you if memory serves he said it costs $1 or something.

There's a couple of how-tos on Mobile Electronics Australia (or whatever it's called now). They're not too hard to follow. Would be my recommendation.

The only issue I see with following a guide is that if people cannot recognise clipping from a speaker, than all the guides in the world wont help them.

Thanks for all the great info everyone, yeah I have no idea how to tell if my speakers are clipping or not so I think might just get someone to tune them for me properly.

Most places will give you a shocking job of a tune for 50 dollars.
I'd recommend autobahn capalaba. Northfield moorooka.
Or I'd be happy to set your gains if you like...

Just remember, write the settings down, and/or take pictures of the settings in case its reset or some helpful mates play with the amps...
