I remember reading somewhere here that to have the lights stay on after locking the car you have to hold the high beams for however many seconds you want them on before switching off.
I tried this on my KJ2 but the lights did not stay on once I switched off the car?

Keys have to be on lock setting in mine to do it. Then you flash or hold your high beams

It isn't working for me.
Is it possible my car doesn't have this feature?
Double flick your lights stalk back. Almost as if you're turning your high beams on and back off quickly.

Almost, but you're a tad misinformed. Holding it down for x seconds is what you use to reconfigure the stay on timer, not to activate it. So if you just want to turn it on with the default time, when you turn the key from On to Lock, flick the high beams once. Don't click them on, just flash them. Your headlights will come on if you have a KJ2, it's a BEM controlled feature.
If I had to guess, the mistake you're making is probably not having the key in the On position and switching it to Lock. This feature is only designed to work after you've turned the car off and are heading to your door, hence 'follow me home' lighting as it's often known.
Once you figure it out, if you want to change the interval, THEN instead of flicking it you hold it in place for the number of seconds you want it to come on for. That changes the timer for when you flick it in the future.
I use this feature quite a lot. :D
EDIT: Here ya go! Pay attention to the headlights in the reflection on the window in front of the car, you will see it's the lows and not the high beams that come on and stay on just from a quick flick of the stalk.

Thanks Jakey it seems I was doing it wrong.
Do I have to flick the lights each time I want them to stay on or is this a feature that will remain active?

Nah, it is a per use feature, so you will have to flick it each time you get out of the car if you're using this every time. However configuring the timer is permanent I believe. So, if the default is 15 seconds, each flick when you turn the car off will make the lights come on for 15 seconds. If you turn the car off and hold it for 30 seconds one time, then all subsequent flicks will cause it to stay on for 30 seconds. I *think*, I haven't taken mine off the default but I think that's how it works.

Thanks Jakey I got it to work.
I just expected that it was like other cars where you either enable or disable the feature, and was expecting the lights to go on when I lock it, and also on when I then unlock it.
