Hi all
I think I'm getting close to having my Ebay business sold now - the guy's chatting with his bank. :woot:
Once that happens I can go shopping for my 380! Questions:
Can I direct fit a grille unit from this model: http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Mitsubishi-380-2008/AGC-AD-13948853/?Cr=7 straight into this model: http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Mitsubishi-380-2005/AGC-AD-13761498/?Cr=9 I much prefer the diamond pattern grille over the older louvre style?
Also the sexy lookin' GT tail lights will they drop straight into all models?

Steve,
First question - NO.
The grille insert shapes are slightly different. Have a close look and you will see that the Platinum grille insert (same shape as VRX & GT) has a 'point' at the centre of the bottom edge, but the base model does not.
Second question - Yes.
But, the VRX (Series 1 & 2, not series 3) & GT lights have a lip on the top edge that is meant to match up with a lip spoiler. Without the lip spoiler the lights will look a bit odd. Just ask Cory (The Corz), who fitted US Galant GT rear lights before he found a lip spoiler to match.

Thanks Miyagi-san - I agree - there's some super sexy models around now for bargain prices!
>>>>>or the luxo version
I think that model is the LX - and they have a fantastic cream/beige & woodgrain interior option that I really like too - but I really do want LPG if I can get it - so I'd be asking for a miracle to get both?? :hmm:

certainly are. I tried selling mine at $10,000 and not a single bite, so ive decided to keep it for now. Ive found the general buying public stay far away from these cars which makes it very hard to sell, so dont be surprised if if rock up with 2-3k less than advertised price and walk away with the car. My pick would be a 2007 VRX Series II as these have leather and are priced well under GT's given similar specs anyway. Only problem is there doesnt seem to be much in victoria, so you could potentially save a few thousand if your prepared to fly down & drive home, or get the car shipped via CEVA for example

Why not offer 12k ?. At that listed price it would have load and over allowance built into it so you would not be too far away, seriously.

OK - just found, checked out and understood the "lip spoiler" shape of the rear lights - what a pain - and they look so cool too!

At this moment I have my eye on an 05 DB on LPG for a great value price! I was hoping (if successful with the purchase) to be able to dress it up just a tad - grille and rear lights would have been ideal. Never mind - a dressy set of alloys to replace standard wheel covers will go a long way.
Cheers

You can always replace either or both of the front & rear bars with the 'sports' versions, they are a straight swap.
But a few problems:
1. Expensive
2. Hard to find in the right colour and in good condition
3. If the wrong colour will cost a bit to respray
4. Might need to buy foggies as well if the front bar doesn't already include them
5. Base model doesn't have the foggies switch and I'm not sure about the wiring either
6. Probably need the boot lid as well with the matching lip spoiler
7. If you're not at all handy with the spanners will cost a bit to have someone remove the old and fit the new.
I've thought of doing this a few times to my base model 2005 DB, but it's just too difficult to find the right parts and not worth the expense IMHO.

Thanks TreeAdey-fella;
Just had a look at your ride specs - looks like you've done really well with it already!! Your rear spoiler - is that a Mitsy one or an aftermarket one? The wheels on your avatar look great from a distance - any close-ups?
Cheers

Steve,
The rear spoiler is a Mitsu OEM job, came standard with a Series 3 VRX.
Fitted in the car park at night at an AMC SA meet over three years ago!
Here's a pic of one of the rims a little closer up:

Unfortunately for you they were the last full set of new ones available for sale, they are a discontinued line.

Mmm nice! Never mind on the lack of availability - there are some similar spoke pattern wheels that I've seen Online. The 5 spoke pattern looks great! What size are those? (Hope this is not getting close to OT or posted in the wrong area)?

Steve,
They are 19" x 8" +36 offset CSA Retro "Hyper Black" wheels.
And it's your thread, you can go as OT as you like!

Thanks TreeAdey! How do you find the ride quality with the 19's? I'd imagine the bigger the wheel (and the less rubber) the harder the ride would get?

The ride quality is quite good, considering 35 profile tyres, lowered springs and KYB Excel-G shocks (which a bit hard & jiggly).
Only marginally harder than the previous 17" x 7" Series 3 VRX rims I had on, with 225/50R17 tyres.
Way better than the 20s I had on some 18 months ago with 245/30R20 tyres, which were fairly harsh riding.
I'd say they are barely harder riding than stock VRX rims & tyres.
But a lot depends on the tyres, not just the rims or the tyre profile.
My current tyres are Achilles ATR Sport in 245/35ZR19, and for the low price I paid for them ($115 each plus $15 postage each from Melbourne) they have proven to be excellent value.
Good grip in the dry, not so good in the wet, quiet, smooth, not at all harsh, and wearing very well so far. Looks like I'll get about 60,000k out of them.

I have 19's with Michelin Pilot Sport with 40 profile cos I didnt want too harsh a ride
Very happy with them wet or dry

Thanks to all the tyre info guys - it'd be an expensive way to go; by trial and error! :kb:
