Hi guys,

I noticed my exhaust manifold has some dents in it.

It does not bother me but I am wondering whether it affects performance or fuel consumption in any way?

They are heat sheilds mate. Take them off to see how dented your pipe is. I removed mine, as they rattled. But i now avoid long dry grass...

No great problem denting the heat shields, unless it is the heat shield on the catalytic converter. A good dent in the actual converter could damage the honeycomb matrix inside and break away, clogging up the rest of the exhaust. If the car drives normally, I wouldn't worry about it.

lol @ parking on long grass - I replaced the middle and rear sections of my TJ and centre section on my TL, not a single shield on the replacement parts.

Thanks guys,
The cat is fine (as seen in the pics).
When I get a chance I'll look if the actual pipe is dented or not.
