I am looking at buying a new car and I came across a TE Turbo it has the 6G75 and a 5 speed they are asking $11,000. It has a full colour change (now green pearl), nice set of wheels, lowered and exahust. Is this a good price or a bit much?
Thank you.

Consider the cost of a te in good condition, now consider the cost of putting a 6g75 in, now consider the cost of not only putting a turbo in but making the motor strong enough to run it.

Add all this up and if your answer is lower, negotiate, if its higher, buy.

Mal charges $2400 or there abouts for a 6g75 conversion I think? Tell me if im wrong

A good condition low ks te manual (hard to find) will set you back anywhere from 4000 to 6000.

And a turbo is depending on the setup, at least $3000 if its a backyard setup

Thats just ballpark figures, the choice is up to you, id be asking alot of questions though.

Just my 5 cents

A 6G75 turbocharged?! I'm a little sus of that.
I've not seen a turbo'd 6g75 in a 380, let alone a magna. Only a few here have supercharged their 380s.
If it's genuine, then I'd be inspecting that setup over with a toothcomb. Turbocharging a 6g75 would be all custom and cost a pretty penny. For car's that are popular for turbocharging like the S-series chassis', a turbo conversion can cost anywhere upwards of 5k. This doesn't include upgrading the internals for the 6g75, that would likely struggle to deal with the extra pressure unless it was running low/wastegate boost.

...and a TE will never fetch 4k. Not when you can get 3.5L TJ's for that money. You'd be lucky to get 1.5k on a good day for a TE. Most are sitting in wreckers getting scrapped for a dime a dozen. Mostly worthless cars these days.

Personally I think it's not worth it.
It's a non mainstream modified car. The market for such a thing is extremely low and when it comes to sell you won't be able to.
Not to mention with such modifications I'd see this as a money pit for repairs.

Modifications might add some value to tuner cars (Evo etc) but personally when a family car is modified and it loses reliability and it simultaneously limits the market size for that car, certainly it cannot add value to it at the same time.

Anyway, personal opinion. In the end of the day the market always finds its price and something is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it

My KH Xi with a new 5 speed Auto and 6G75 went for only just above that and it was practically a new car with a great deal more toys and comforts than a TE could offer as I have owned a TE.

Do research mate, see if the car and its work has been posted on forums like this one so you can ascertain the quality and reliability of it before purchase. It's like an online log book.

My god I'tl be quick though! (assuming the motor is running right) It only weights around 1330kg odd as well, this would be one of the fastest magnas around.
But mechanical condition is more important so if you could have it inspected properly & turns out to be a genuine build, then bit him.
