Hi guys I have almost finished fitting all the looms from a KF XI into my TE Exec, little problem though and I think its related to the alarm.

Every now and then, the hazards will start flashing as though the alarm is going off, however I have not hooked up the siren hence no siren sounding, the KF uses a different drivers side door loom so at the moment Im wanting to run the manual windows for the time being which also means that I have no central locking.

Do I need to reprogram my Key to the TE barrel now its using the KF Xi loom or is there anything I need to do?

Im not too sure why the blinkers keep going off. Thanks in advance.

Luke

Are you running the xi drivers door loom ? the central locking should still work with the key. Try unlocking the car from the passenger side door with the key, this should turn the alarm off as magna models have the key switch on the passenger side and not the drivers. The xi has it in both doors

Im glad you mentioned that, I noticed the same thing thing.

So ill try again tomorrow when its light and see what happens.

Tell you what though, I love the delayed dimming of the lights :)

This explains why I can never get my alarm to stop until it times out when it's mistakenly set off. That's stupid.

Opened the passenger door with the key alarm still went off.

It won't even let me program my remote.

Kf xi has a different remote and needs to be programed by mitsi i think

How is the Xi remote different to the Ei remote?
They look the same don't they?

Have fun - KF Xi remote is about $300 (I confirmed this price with a few different dealers in Adelaide a couple of years ago).

I've got the receipt here somewhere... give me a minute.

OK here we go...

I scanned this myself from one of my dealership invoices, it's a quote for a replacement remote for my KF Xi.

This is what the KF Xi remotes look like. I understand that it is different to KF Ei remotes.

I think the part number is MR207965, but not sure.

This is how you need to program them (The ignition turn key method DOES NOT work on KF Xi's)

I have the single button remote I thought the kf's were also single button?

No they are not single button.

I have a KF Xi and the photos of the remote in my previous post were taken by me and are of my own KF Xi remote.

KF Xi remotes are different to KF Ei remotes, and KF Ei remotes will not work on KF Xi's. Even then, I don't think any KF remotes were single button.

Thanks Karj especially for the photos, jeez this will be a pain to buy.

I know someone who might be able to help me get trade price on one, but still not looking forward to it.

I've just read through your thread properly and I don't think the remote is your problem.

I think that your problem may be that you haven't hooked up the drivers side door loom.

Reason I say this is that when you lock the drivers door of a KF Xi from the outside with the key, it arms the car alarm and "security" lights up on the dash... so obviously the drivers side door lock is linked to the alarm system.

So it makes sense to me that if you haven't hooked up the drivers door loom then the car alarm is going to get confused. Worth thinking about before emptying your pockets for an overpriced remote lol

If I do plug in the drivers side loom and the alarm does not go off I will still need the remote for the remote central locking right?

For remote central locking, yes you will still need the correct 3 button remote that I photographed.

I don't know whether it's any use to you, but I have scanned the circuit diagrams for the KF Xi alarm and central locking, and uploaded it for you.

It shows the components of the alarm system and that the door lock, hood and trunk cyllinder switches and actuators are all part of the alarm system and link into the ETACS ECU.

You may also need to swap all the passenger door lock actuators from the xi, as they have the switch inside them. Drivers side is the same as the magna. This may also be why the alarm is not deactivating. Also swapping the wiper stalk from the xi will give you speed sensitive wipers as well.

Bit of a weird one. I went out to the car today and opened the car via the passenger with the key as every door except the drivers which was not connected unlocked. I opened the doors including the drivers door and the alarm didnt go off.

I have wired in the drivers door XI door loom, just yet to get out there and test it.

When should the green security light on the cluster be on?

The security light comes on when you lock the car, once in goes out the alarm is armed.

My green security dash light comes on when I lock the car with the remote, or when I lock the drivers door from the outside with the key (locking the drivers door from the outside with the key locks all the other doors). My security light then goes out sometime later, I'm not sure exactly how long it's illuminated.
