looking for a new head unit for my car
but the thing is i can get the stock gear from the obsolete magna and diamante range for like 150 bucks saving like 400 is it worth it?
my current player just skips the cd and is budget quality
looking for new speakers best too, get aftermarket ones or are the current magna speakers any good?

No, just about any aftermarket CD Tuner will be better.. (Note anything above $200 - $250)
As i said on mirc curry, the stock stuff is built for a price, then WAY over priced for people that dont know any better, your better off spending a bit more and then getting the results u want... :)

Go out and buy a descent head unit and be done with it. I've had my alpine headunit for about a year now and it's perfect.
Ask guru what he got his Alpine MP3 head unit for, its actually quite nice (bastard!)

ok just thought it sounded like a good deal, will save and buy an after market one rather than the obsolete magna player.
thanks for the help guys
Unless its the schmicko 8 speaker jobbie that goes into the high spec veradas etc - aparently that one is quite a good unit.

Hi,
What model Magna is yours?
You could try getting the serial number off the H/U and ring up Clarion Aust. (well, they're the supplier for the units in the standard TJ Magna) to see if they will give it to you. Not sure if they will give it out though???
Cheers,
Matt.
I just asked the service guy when I booked my car in for a service few services ago at Skippers in Vic Park and he just looked it up and gave it to me when I picked the car up ... no charge.

Thats what I thought.
Mine is a TH Sports.
The guy in the Service dept said this is what Mitsu charge them to get it from the DB... This is the Service Centre of Denmack Mitsubishi.
Anyway Im trying now I guy I know through a friend of mine that works at Mitsubishi to see if he cannot look it up.
But $25 for a code ... may as well buy a new one for that.

ring the dealership that your car was originally purchased from and give them the rego and vin and they should be able to pull it from their computer?!
