Hi all,
I'm looking at changing the fluids in my tj magna, like coolant & ATF, now my question is do I have to buy the Mitsubishi brand fluids or can I just get some generic stuff from sca.
Cheers
the coolant is fine, but the ATF, I would get genuine, these auto boxes in these magnas are like princesses, buy the wrong dress and be prepared for a headache with all the screaming your going to cop.

When I did my transmission flush it seemed that the Mitsubishi SP3 ATF was cheaper than the alternative anyway

I don't reckon there is a better coolant than Mitsubishi genuine. It's all I have ever used and my cooling system is mint even after 325k.
Castrol Magnatec is my oil of choice. Not just for the name, either lol. Again, no crap building up in the engine, and it seems almost a waste dumping it at 10k cos it's still clean lol.
I use Valvoline in the auto, and never had any issues with my wagon, or the sedan when she had the auto and she got driven with a fair bit of spirit.
Just my personal experience.

+1 for genuine coolant.. 318k on my old TF and 127k on my current TJ and both are still spotless & on all original hoses, water pump and radiator.
+1 for genuine ATF fluid.. not worth risking what is not recommended.
I use genuine engine oil too.. all of which have never caused any issues.
The only items I don't always use genuine are oil filter and air filter.

Whatever you do, dont mix coolants! If you dont know whats in your car, flush it out properly before you put your new coolant in. If you flush your system, I believe about 4 litres of coolant (concentrate). 35%-50% is recommended and the system is 8.5L
Stick with a brand name coolant and Id be surprised if it failed you.
