Hi Guys,

Just tinkering around at home, and I disconnected battery at black terminal - getting ready to replace a battery that is on its last legs.

Reconnected battery, and now car will not start.

Had RACQ out to look and found that fuel pump not pressurising when ignition key turned on.
All fuses checked ok. ECU reset by complete disconnect of battery??
Service man broke induction tube after air filter, and added a small quantity of fuel.
Tried to start it, all to no avail.
Motor spins over on starter motor, no life at all.
Have checked fuel pump and it works on temporary power lead.
No power at fuel pump terminals.

Are there any other fuses or links in the system

Anyone had problems like this??
ECU faulty???

Regards, ggb

wiggle all the ecu connectors...especially around/nearby to the battery.

is probably your fault, you accidentally stuffed something me thinks

Hmm, when disconnecting the battery and connecting the new one, was the car completly off? Was there a spark? Have you checked the in-cabin fuses? Fuel pump not running is due to immobiliser. Don't just visually inspect the fuses, use a multimeter to test continuity.

If you disturb the ABS connector (behind battery) it will give the result you describe. We have removed ABS totally and couldn't get the car started till we took the black electronic piece off the ABS motor, and plugged it back into the loom. You can get around it with a jumper between two pins on the ABS connector (can't remember which pins)

Have a look at the fuel pump wiring plug as it plugs into the fuel pump. It's under the rear passenger seat. The pins can arc and cause a poor connection - is the plug blackened?
