Hey everyone,

recently I've been experiencing some odd issues on my 'rada so I was hoping you guys could help me understand what's going on. :ninja:

Car is year2000 3.5l with tiptronic, regularly serviced and looked after.

So, when driving at speed (say 70km/h) while cornering a bit harder with the throttle wide open (or almost) in 2nd or 3rd gear, the engine would lose a lot of power BUT without shutting off completely.
Feels kinda like fuel starvation but I'm guessing it could be an electrical issue.
All is back to normal as soon as I lift the accelerator a bit or I drive straight.

Also the car accelerates (with throttle wide open) with "steps" just like all the power is there at 2500rpm, then it goes away for a brief second and then back all normal up to 5000rpm.

To make you understand "the feeling", just imagine that while you're accelerating hard suddenly the car feels twice as heavy, then one second later everything is okay.

On top of this, the idle is rough (not all the time): feels like some cylinder is missing spark randomly?

Fuel filter was replaced 20k km ago, plugs all done as well... Ignition leads/distributor could be to blame in this case?

It's rather weird because 99% of the time the car runs great, but then some days really she doesn't wanna collaborate

Sorry for the long post but I think more info may help you have a good view of the problem.

Thanks A L-O-T for any reply!

This is a magna problem. If your fuel tank is anything under half and u take a corner very hard your engine will splutter and wont launch forward until you have finished the corner.

Found the same with my Verada on cornering but it was the Traction control. As soon as that inside tyre slips it will back off till all good again and purr out of the corner..Try turning it off and see if same problem arises..

Yeah, its a fuel starvation. When they were developing the Ralliart Magna, they made a clear plastic top fuel tank and drove around lots of simulated corners with a man in the back looking at where the fuel went. This is because they had to develop baffles to prevent this issue for Ralliarts only.

That's the only solution.

Fill your tank, keep it over 3/4 full, and see if the problem continues. It's essentially a free fix as you need fuel anyway.
