Hi just wondering if anyone has changed the LEDs in the TL-TW climate control to a different colour? I was thinking of giving this a crack tomorrow if its not too difficult, as I've ran out of other lights to fiddle with

Did it dull the light output by much?

They are a tiny surface mount type LED...
I had some luck printable overhead projector transparency sheets.
Printed in a light colour and covered the LED, worked on the cluster and Climate controls.
It ended up too dim, Despite the lightest tint...
I eventually reversed it..
Heres a pic if the LED in the Power window switch.... (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0416.jpg)
Browse through the next few photo's... There is a pic of how light the transparency is, and the results as well. I did end up covering the RPM and KMPH print as well. It was blue, but had a touch of green tint...
But as the LED's are not white to begin with, any tint will end up a slightly different colour.

You can buy osram surface mount LEDs from a place in Melbourne I think it was. I bought 50x for $20 recently to change my CD players color. Easy job and will look good with even light spread.

Can I sound a note of caution:
I THINK that the eye is subject to some deterioration in visual sensitivity when red is used. I believe that the peripheral vision is de-sensitised if the eye is subjected to bright red lights. If this is so, then it could be a hazard in night driving.
Dont want to be too alarmist, but I did hear about this first some years ago. I find too, that if I am out on the fire truck at night and the red/blue lights are flashing, I have some difficulty seeing out into the dark. Also, I was out one night and went past a stationary cop car with all its lights flashing, and found that I was temporarily 'blinded' by the lights.
for what its worth.

^ not a bad point well made, that said, 380's if I recall had blue lighting, and a lot of modern cars do have red, blue and/or white in brighter levels than our cars do. A lot of BMW's for example are completely red interior lit. I reckon you will be okay. But, still good advice for anyone who thinks that might be a problem for them. Just offering the other side of the coin. :)

I think what you say about red lighting is completely incorrect. I was lead to believe that red dose not have that affect on your eyes sensitivity to light at night. I remember years ago while on a tour of a navy war ship, I noticed the radar and other equipment had red ilumation, when I asked why that was I was told red has the least affect on your eyes at night.

But from a personal point, I have red ilumation throughout my car, from the past 9 cars I have had I find red to have the least affect on my eyes if any.

There's also the issue of brake lights. :P

Well only reason I went the red is cause I've got a vrx dash cluster on the way with red dials so I wanted to match

If you ever notice a police car with a light on inside, it is a red light the passenger is using. It is well documented that red does not destroy your night vision as other colours do. Blue and white are favourite dash light conversions, but are also the top night vision killers. For this reason, HIDs is said to have a negative side.
