hi everyone long time reading first time posting :-)
anyway I have a dilemma, I have wired up my amp through he firewall and have done everything else right but now i'm stuck. I need to know how the bloody hell everyone has wired up there front speakers to the amp?
I have tried to push some speaker wire through the original holes to the doors to no avail because of a plug that connects the elec windows, speakers and door light.
does anyone have a spot where to run the wires through or even have a good spot to drill a few holes?
thanks for your help Mark

Did you manage to put the wires through the doors alongside the rest of the wires?

It's fairly easy to run new wires into the door.
Just unhook the rubber part from each side where it meets the metal and grab a thin length of metal wire and poke it through.
Keeping in mind that you have the wire poking out from one side (either door or car side) before tying off to the wire.
I've found it easier if you try to stretch the rubber so it hasn't got any bends in it to make it easier to slide the metal wire through.
Failing that just tap into the speaker wire behind the deck and use that like most people do if they can't be bothered running new wire to each speaker.
The stock wiring is more then enough the handle the basic system upgrades.

I found the easiest way is to remove both sides of the grommet, get a long cable tie (this way you dont risk jabbing anything with wire) feed that through the grommet, when you get it through the grommet tape the wires to the cable tie well and pull while massaging the rubber tubing.

hi eveyone thanks for the replies.
the wire i was useing was an old extension lead cut to length, so it was pretty stiff. first i unhooked the rubber grommets from the car and the door, i then sprayed WD40 down the tube (found this on a very old thread) and the started to thread it down until it poked through one side. once done i then pulled through enough wire to do the speakers and then tackled the doors.
the hardest part was trying to feed the wire through the plastic bits in the kick panel, but once done it was like heaven lol
all works good just have to MDF the door speakers and deaden the doors. then somehow find a sub to fit the wagon
cheers all Mark

Be careful there, alot of cable that is made to suit 240v/house applications will be stiffer, but also more fragile, you dont want to snap too many strands while trying to put it where it shouldnt go, trust me ive played with it before.
In future, places like Bunnings sell 14-16 gauge wire, you can get about say 25 meters for $30, you can get less to, its not "car audio" wire as such but I use it all the time and it works fine, its flexible, has a decent silicone jacket and the strand count cannot be questioned, they market it for home theatre, short of that you can get some excellent speaker wire made my Shok Industries, thats what I will be using next time.
